The Guest House
Newly built in 2016, the architectural character of the guest house reflects the old Cape Cod style New England home it replaced. Unique and stunning details have been incorporated while preserving a similar, elegant design to the main house. Beautiful brick floors flow through the first level leading you from the main entryway to the living room with wood fireplace and then over to the dining and kitchen area. A screened-in porch is set on the west side where your visitors can enjoy the beautiful skyline and sweeping field views. Upstairs there is master suite with ensuite bath and two additional guest rooms and second full bathroom.
Special details to note:
Preserving a bit of history, wood from the original house was hand-planned and incorporated in the wainscoting.
Bricks sourced from a Chicago warehouse were hand selected and cut to a tile level thickness to create the floors on the first level.
Quiet expressions of European style including English encaustic tiles and William Morris wallpaper accent the decor.
Custom woodwork details can be found throughout from the shaped skirt board on the stairway to the Greek Revival style of the custom trim around windows and doors, to the decorative cutouts on the kitchen cabinets.
